Chapter One – In the beginning
Line 5

As per my experience with online work, one most depressing or shall I say stressful moment is when the project suddenly stopped, or there were no more new tasks from client.

The feeling that after you worked hard for your client, they will tell you that there are no more tasks to be done. Since this is our source of income, I felt like getting dis-oriented. I need to find new job as soon as possible. We have bills to pay, and I have family to support.

This made me think that I should not stick to one client only. I should find other projects. So if one is done, I still have more work. This is the reason why I limit myself working 40 hours for a single client.

My boss, founder of eCommerce University asked me why I don’t like to work full time. I told her my reason. She did not discuss about a contract since I am a freelancer. And it is a nature of freelance job – no fix timeframe of contract.

Instead she told me that she’s working online for 20 years. She already hired many online worker and they worked in the company for 3 years and 5 years and she hoped I can work with her for many years too.

Since I wanted to make sure, I kept my working hours to 30hr/wk. Then I continued working for other clients. Only I am working with lower hourly rate for my old clients. Many times, the short term tasks are tiring because I needed to chat with clients more often to make clarify to confirm that I understand their instruction.

I also needed to make a follow up hoping they can give me bigger/long term projects soon. Until one day I decided to work full-time with eCommerce University. I was not wrong choosing to work with them. The fear of loosing a job was gone.

Being an online worker and working with eCommere University is such a great blessing.
